Q: So RV’ing huh?
A: Yeah, I think it’s about time…I think we deserve it. The freedom is absorbing and addictive. We can pick up and go away from our ordinary selves and life. We can just go places on a whim. Just getting away from the normality of our selves and enjoying the freedom of the road and the randomness of where we end up. I like what being in the Whip does for us and for our relationship. We spend more time face to face (well us and AussieOne of course!). We are definitely closer today from this experience. I want to grow that.
Q: Who are you?
A: What? Ha ha! Well, I am a simpler person today than I was four or five months ago. RV’ing has made me realize my lack of a need for “stuff”. When I am in our stick and brick house I look around me and question why we need all of this stuff. So I guess you could just say that I am streamlining my life and focusing on what is important to me. Oh, and I’m now a dog person. But AussieOne needs to make room for Big Red (call sign)!
Q: What is something that most people don’t know about you?
A: That I’m happiest when I’m relaxed and just being goofy. I love it when I can put my guard down and sing, or just “cut up”. People close to me know that. Also, I can’t figure out when and where to use a semi colon. So I just refrain from using one.
“I don’t want to wait until retirement to do the things we’ve dreamed of. What if we never get that far? Tomorrow is uncertain. We only have the moment and I want to seize that.”
Q: I understand you make custom jewelry. Can you tell us about that?
A: Well, yes! I guess you can call my passion “making custom jewelry”, ha ha ha! I craft custom jewelry to a very specific Catholic, Christian taste. Mostly bracelets and anklets, but, also necklaces and earrings as well. I make the chain and design combination for the majority of my pieces from raw wire stock and I can use any material you desire. Most are sterling silver. What started out as a hobby has become a passion and a devotion. I think a little piece of me goes into each creation. I do have an Etsy store, Faithfully Jeweled, so anyone interested should come and have a look!
Q: What do you think about this whole blogging, YouTube channel, Social Media thing?
A: Ha ha ha, what ever makes you happy dear! I think it’s a fun way to share our lives with our family and friends. I also know that you enjoy writing and make videos so that’s fun also.
Q: What’s up with this new RV? You had a new RV already!
A: Hmmmm, space! I quickly realized that, while I love you, we were a little too close at times, Ha Ha Ha! The reality is that, while I don’t need a lot of stuff, I do need comfortable space! The Beast was great and we had a blast in it! But, our new, new rig , “The Whip” (click link here to take a tour) has tons more living space and storage, a larger shower and a toilet that is not on a raised platform. We don’t have to dangle our legs anymore when we go…you know.
Q: Why Tempo?
A: Well you made me get a code name to use with the walkie. I knew that presidents have Secret Service code names so I looked up president’s wives. I am a great admirer of Laura Bush and her Secret Service code name is “Tempo”. So…Tempo it is!
Q: Funny! So how are the walkies working out? Fun or a nuisance?
A: They’re getting better! Once I figured out how to translate the garbling sound coming out of the walkie and how to operate them, it got better. It’s a little embarrassing though. Standing out there with a walkie-talkie while people literally stand and stare at me while I verbally guide you as you back into a camp site. I’m not sure why that is so interesting to people, but, apparently it is.
Q: I noticed you are reading more about RV’ing and watching more RV channels on YouTube. What are you looking at or for?
A: At first I was just looking for information on the “how to” of RVs and RV’ing. Now I’m just watching the lifestyle of certain interesting people who full-time RV. “The More We Explore”, “Gone with the Wynns”, “RV Love”, “Technomadia”, “GoneNoMad”, “WheelingIt” and others. These people completely changed their lives to chase the “Nomadic” lifestyle by planning and simplifying. They wander but they are not lost. So, I’m dreaming and planning.
Q: That’s a great segue! What does the future hold for you?
A: Ha ha ha! Early retirement and the carefree life of full-time RV’ing? Full-time jewelry making? Both? I don’t know! I know what I hope for. I hope we can spread our wings and break out of the barriers of limited vacation from work, the confines of our stick and brick home and the other limitations we all face each and every day. There’s a great advantage to your home having an engine and wheels. I don’t want to wait until retirement to do the things we’ve dreamed of. What if we never get that far? Tomorrow is uncertain. We only have the moment and I want to seize that.
Q: You stole my line! My final question is…Who really ate the Ground(ed) Chicken?
A: Ha ha ha! I’m not telling! Let’s just say that you seemed to really enjoy your dinner that night!
